It seems like the world is full of sabotaging choices this time of year, but your health doesn't have to go down the drain with your co-workers.
Have no fear, arm yourself with these 3 tips to avoid the snack-attack, and you’ll be bringing in the seams on your super girl outfit in no time.
Three places we sabotage our healthy lifestyle and how to tackle temptation.
As you run into the supermarket to grab your produce, that brightly colored candy wrapping catches your eye. The pleasure neurons begin to fire at an alarming rate and your healthy living is about to go up in smoke, you rationalize - it’s for the kids. The best way to sabotage yourself is by filling your cupboards with your favorite sweet temptations. Let’s make our lives a little easier this year. If you must support Dentists everywhere, buy your least favorite candy to pass out the adorable lions and dinosaurs. No one should fill the cupboards with endless economy sized bags of their favorite candy.
You’re convinced; your co-workers are pure evil. You’ve been telling Winifred all about boot camp and how much you enjoy your protein shake. You know she’s had it in for ya ever since you bragged to her about your pants falling off. She cornered you at 3 PM. Your blood sugar had dropped, you’re weak, your knees are shaking and you’re certain you’ll wake up drooling on the reports. What’s this, she made pumpkin cheesecake for the office? To truly resist all those goodies at the office, you’ve got to be prepared, and full. It is vital to your health and happiness that you beef up your office snack supply during this time of year. Be in charge of your snacking. Buy your favorite healthy treats. Raw sliced jicama is one of my favorite on the go treats. You can stock up on lots of fruits, veggies, whole grain pretzels, nuts, applesauce. Another easy snack to keep at your desk is an avocado, some cherry tomatoes and a few portion controlled whole grain crackers. If they come in a sleeve draw a line on the outside to limit your portion for the meal.
When all inhibitions and self-control fly out the window, when adults gather to celebrate, and get down. Why do we feel the need to stock the party with sweets, and soda? We are already getting too many empty sweets this time of year. The last thing our body wants is to load up on is an extra 1,100 calories of liquid just so we can dance the night away. For every drink of soda or alcohol be sure to compensate with a glass of water. Soda, alcohol, coffee, and tea are all acidic, we need to balance out that acidity in our body by drinking 1 glass of water for each drink. If you do consume excess amounts of sugar at night via sweets, or drinks, bring some almonds or cashews around with you. Your body will better metabolize sugar if you consume it with some healthy natural fats.
