Yes, I just sounded like a cheesy infomercial, and yes I’m as serious as a heart attack. We’re going to be busy this coming year. We’re going to be more productive and happier than ever in 2013. With all that wonderful change dished up on your plate, how are you going to have time to hit the gym?
With your workout, it’s not how long you spend at the gym each day, but it’s how you spend that time. Let’s get twice the workout, in half the time.
3 Tips to be sure you get the most out of your workout
Here are 3 exercises that target, and utilize multiple muscle groups. (After all, we have more than 650 muscles in our body. I’d say that’s a few more than the typical bicep, ab, glute, hamstring workout.)
A. Inch Worm: Begin standing with your feet at the end of the mat. Keeping your legs straight bend down and reach your hands to the ground. Walk your hands out until you are in plank. Once in plank drop down to your forearms and hold plank for 5 seconds. From there. Pop back up onto your hands and walk them back into your feet, stand all the way up. Repeat 15 X
B. Spiderman Lunges: Begin in downward dog position. (All fours in a pike position- inverted V). Extend your right leg out to your right hand, then place your foot squarely on the ground. Bring your forehead as close as you can to your knee. Alternate and repeat 30X.
C. Gator Pushups: Begin in pushup position. Lengthen your right arm out in front of you, plant your hand. Bend your left knee and plant the left foot near your left hand. Do 1 pushup. Alternate and do 15 X. Think of the way a Lizard walks and try to replicate that, adding in a pushup at every step.
2013 is your year, you don’t have the time to waste it boring yourself to tears on the treadmill.
Get up and get moving with a dynamic workout.
