It’s nearly 2013, we have options, there are countless people just like yourself that stay in shape, and enjoy their workout.
Being healthy and active is fun, and once you recognize that, you’ll see the inches melt away. Here are 7 ways to have fun with your workout during these chilly months.
Do not forget the mittens, warm hat, and long johns. Head for the hills to give yourself a bit of a challenge with the incline.
2. Get your shimmy on.
Tone your core, and bust out that hoola hoop. Invite a friend to join you and you’re sure to get a great core workout from the laughter alone.
3. Shake those hips!
You spend so much time exercising to look good for the opposite sex, why not make your health a joint effort. Take a Latin dance class and impress your friends with your new skills.
Hiking alone is a great cardiovascular workout. We also know we need to gain muscle mass to increase our metabolism and burn body fat. Throw a pack on you back to give yourself that added resistance and build up those glutes.
5. Snowshoeing is a great alternative to the elliptical.
Let’s put our years of gliding practice to good use. I would love to see Tony Gazelle’s snowshoeing grace. You can rent snow shoes from various resorts and shops to see which type you prefer. So get out there and break a sweat on the chilly slopes.
Ice skating burns twice the calories that walking does. It’s a fun social activity. Your evening will be full of laughs and memorable moments. You’ll have a blast channeling your inner ice-goddess as you imitate Michelle Kwan.
7. Blast the tunes and have an 80s dance party.
Let's rewind to our Area 51 days. The 80’s tunes cover the whole gambit of toe stepping beats. Pandora has a great 80’s workout station that will fulfill your dancing needs. I don’t know what motivates me more than attempting to squeeze into a leotard.
